FAQ
What kind of bow will students shoot?
The only bow used in NASP® is a “Genesis®” compound which has no let-off and is adjustable from 10-20 pounds in draw weight at any draw length (In 2002, when NASP® was started, the Genesis bow was the only universal draw length bow available.). Only full-length aluminum arrows are used in NASP® to fit every student and to preserve NASP®’s perfect safety record.
How safe is this program?
Safety is the top priority to NASP (and to LCS). There is currently a zero accident record since the beginning of the program in 2002. Students are required to strictly follow all safety and behavior rules. All NASP coaches/instructors attend training and maintain BAI certification.
Archery's safety record is better than that of nearly ever sport taught in public schools. Equipment used is state-of-the-art and a universal fit so every student can safely use the same bows and arrows.

How can archery benefit my child?
In a survey conducted by Responsive Management®, a nationally recognized research firm, the teachers say:
When will my child have Archery?
Per NASP guidelines, the Archery program will be offered to Elementary PE students in 4th - 6th grades during their regularly scheduled PE class. It will also be offered to LCS Middle School students as an exploratory class.
My child has his/her own bow, can he/she bring it to class?
Unfortunately no. Due to the program we are using, NASP, we are required to follow their guidelines. Students will have the opportunity to qualify and compete at the State tournament next year and all equipment must be a NASP supported Genesis bow (that we provide).
