Shoe Tying: Having shoes that are tied is a safety issue. If your child is learning this developmentally appropriate skill or is struggling with this skill, PLEASE work with them over the Christmas holiday. K5 Shoe Reminder for Afternoon PE: Afternoon K5 students are reminded to please wear appropriate/safe footwear to PE on their afternoon PE days. We are not in the gym during this time and indoor PE shoes cannot be used. We have had many students (sometimes over 75% of a class) come to PE in boots, slip on shoes, etc. We are jumping and moving and it is essential that students wear safe footwear.
Illness: A student with a temporary illness, such as a cold, may be excused from participation for one week (2 classes) with a note signed by the parent or guardian. A doctor’s note is required for any illness or injury requiring recovery time longer than one week. The note must state the nature of the condition and the length of time the student is to be excused from activity. If your child feels ill during school or is hurt during recess, in order to be excused from PE they must inform their homeroom teacher or the office first and then that information will be communicated to me through them. A student excused from PE is expected to refrain from similar activities during recess. Stay Active and Merry CHRISTmas
